i. introduction

The names of weekdays in Ukrainian, as much as in Polish, Byelorussian and Russian, seem to be self-identifying:

/pohneh'deelok, ponie'dzial'ek, panie'dzielahk, panie'diel'nik/ = the day after the NON-WORKING (ne'deelia)

/veev'tohrohk, wto'rek, 'ftohrneek/ = the SECOND DAY

/sehreh'dah, s'roda, syah'rohdah, srie'dah/ = the MIDDLE WEEK DAY

/cheht'vehr, czwartek, chahts'vier, chie'tvierg/ = the FOURTH DAY

/'p"yahtnyhtsyah, 'pia,tek, 'piatnitsa/ = the FIFTH DAY

/suh'bohtah, so'bota, suh'bohtah/ = the Sabbath Day

/neh'deelia, nie'dziela, nya'dziela/{Russian "vahskriesien'ie", which is out of the row, denoting the Resurrection Day}.

It all could be OK, as in the Lettish Language, for example, (we know how close are the Baltic and the Slavic Languages, esp., the Eastern Slavic Languages) the days are given the names acc. to the order they are traced- "the first, the second, etc.

The question arises when we come to opposing the Eastern Slavic Weekdays with other language, such as Germanic or Romance. We are aware of the uncompromising fact that in those languages, the names of the days are given as homage to the mythological dieties of the Past. But, again, we know that the Slavic Mythology being different and not-well preserved had nearly the same gods as other Cultures of the Indo-Iranian Areal. So, was that that the names of the days were insignificant to the Slavic Languages mentioned as the sign of the underdevelopment? The names of the gods known even today, as remnants of the Past Civilization named by Mirolyubov, a Russian scholar and also mentioned by me in an article (see: www.searchwarp.com) and in the reconstruction of the mythological characters that denoted/could denote the names of the day in the Slavic Calendar-Kolodar-Kalendarz, could make us think that the names of the weekdays are not at all the surface-denoting coinages and might have undergone many changes due to the historical reasons and due to the religious necessities.

One think could be evident, if we accept the validity of the thought, even if a crazy one, that the names of the weekdays could be the symbolic names of the pagan civilization's names of the deities. Then, the things will be more complicated.

So, what could they mean?

1.PON-EH- DEEL-OK

(Possible but disputable variants of one of the possible reconstructions of the Days'names).

I have no clue.

I have no clue?

it is OK,

but I have some glue.

why don't you give me your nice name?

will it deminish your high fame?

I have no clue

but I have the right

to write

whatever I think is right,

and you, my friend, on the other side,

you also have the very same mind,

even to give me a piece of mind-

if any reason you can find.

and Happy Holidays to you-

thank you so much for having viewed

my science-fiction sacred piece!
