Brainstorming In Training Future Interpreters

Brainstorming as a powerful tool for training simulteneous interpreters is considered to be possible if: 1/ the students have well-developed linguistic skills in both languages which can be obtained through: a/ intensive languages training; b/ extensive reading on specialty and relative literature (alternative reading); c/ communication with the field specialists; d/ constant participation at conferences, workshops, meetings; e/ practical implementation of knowledge, strategies and tactics of translating/interpreting in the field.
Brainstorming is not only a means of training but also a very objective means of testing prospective interpreters for simulteneous interpreting skills. Of course, there should be elaborated possibly acceptable means of the evaluation of brainstorming which requires stability of NERVOUS SYSTEM and cannot be used till the student is examined by a medical doctor; for psychologically unstable students brainstorming can be ruinous. A forceful attack directed toward a badly prepared student may provoke depression, a nervous breakdown or even a more serious injury to one's psyche. Every prospective interpreter should consult a psychologist if any psychological instability occurs.
It would be also very desirable to introduce more psychology disciplines into the syllubus of future interpreters for them to have a possibilty to fix possible problems themselves.
